What does it mean, spocial media?

Basically all the people out there, mostly marketers, that create fake profiles and really fake content, just to either generate links to their site or to try to get people off of the social networks to their lame spammy site.

Who are the worst offenders?

We are about to release our list of “social media” sites that have an overly high percentage of junk content and reallly spammy links.

I am a very active Facebook poster and treat it like a blog. I like to post interesting videos, news pieces, and other gems from the internet. But my privacy settings wouldn’t allow a random person to see my wall so I think this is fake. What do you think? Here’s a Facebook message I received.

Sounds like spam to me.

Lol you fail haha it’s spam if you gonna click the links email them to your self and if you have an iPod/iPhone/iPad open the links on them cuss iPods and ipa iPhones don’t have viruses yet. I do it all the time and I cOme across some funny sites eg it says I’m todays winner 15 December but it was the 16 they fail at life lol

Let me get this straight:
You don’t know how to login to your blog. you don’t know the user / email and the password.

if this was easy, all blogs would be unsafe and hack-able.

i suggest starting a new blog, and this time, write the user name password somewhere safe.

I’ve been getting an e-mail from this person who has the same name as me besides the last name is spelled wrong. It’s spam so I’ve just been deleting it.. I got another e-mail today and went to block them. I clicked to view their profile and saw that it was mine!!! I’m pretty sure I’ve been hacked or something. I only get on to check my e-mail so I really don’t pay attention to my profile until now. I’ve had this e-mail address for years and its connected to all my social-media pages and so forth so I really don’t want to delete it. What can I do?

Just change your password to a stronger password…include symbols and #’s in your password then you should be good.

I tend to think of men now, but when I was younger I messed with gals. Whenever I’d see a film with a woman, I’d get more excited seeing her act this way instead of seeing a guy with his shirt off, et’s say.. not sure if this is because the camera mostly focuses on women though, while men are there, but aren’t really the focus. Women are the givers and receivers…I usually get excited because I guess I can imagine what they must feel, and I wonder what it’s like to do those things. Not sure if it’s the whole bi media culture influence as well. I always missed having a maternal warm figure as well, as my mom never really hugged me. I don’t know. My relationship with my dad is off as well, as he’s a weak alcoholic, and I’ve never felt strength form him… So, growing up, I’ve also been attracted to older men, way older than my dad, those who seemed wise, and then at another extreme, I’d think of actually being with fat, sweaty men. I’ve grown up with strict notions, and have never been on a real date (in my 20s now). I never knew about sex, but as a little kid was exposed to porn because of some cousins. That really messed up my thinking patterns. I saw everything with a taint of sex in it. As a preteen I though sex was dirty, bad, and hated that my parents had so many kids after me. I thought people were animals if they did certain sexual acts because I felt they dehumanized women.Then, suddenly I became interested in all of those acts (in my 20s). I looked up how to do these acts, especially once I met a guy who was into that.. I got it. But, now i go to church and I believe it’s against the bible to perform sodomy (which equals anal and oral), right?.Anything that isn’t meant to breed children. When I was 18, I’d thought of being a prostitute somewhere… I know this sounds irrational.. Is this merely psychological or normal, or mental, or all of the above? As far as women, i get shy and uncomfortable around them at times.. Since I was in high school, I wondered if I creeped others out, and I’d test it out by putting out strange energy (i’m just barely trying to work out on being social which I think explains my awkwardness around others).. Am I a repressed lesbian? A repressed sexual being? I want to save myself for marriage, but at times i’d love to jump on any hot man. Because, although, before i thought only a woman would know what pleasure I’d need, all I want is a man’s __ in me. I get strong x energy when I have to go #2, or when I get depressed, like when something traumatic happens. Is this normal? Please help, no spam please, I am serious, and have been told before I needed medication. Perhaps I need more exercise to get rid of all this energy. The problem is, I tend to be depressed, and once i get to dance or yoga, I get huge amounts of energy, especially sexual energy, is this normal?
My question is whether you think I am gay, or am going through something psychological. How young were you when you knew you were attracted to the same sex? I wonder about this, because I’m not sure if what I feel is due to what happened with my cousins, because of what I was exposed to as a child, and because of the influence of the media, or if I am lesbian. A repressed one who goes through mental breakdowns because of it (and conflicting religious views). if it’s because of what I lacked as a child. Or, if I’m confusing sexual attraction for admiration (to not feel jealous over pretty girls, I’d tell myself they were hot). Or, I’d admire them, and the same goes for the smart fat men I’d meet. I’d admire my counselor, and fantasized about him, and about doing something to these fat men that no one wanted in society ( am I looking to do charity work in the wrong area? -i.e., thoughts of being a prostitute?)… Or, am I just twisted? Or, a normal sexually repressed woman?

You need to seek counseling. Your problems are like tangled strings. There is no making sense of this without INTENSIVE therapy. Just so you know, I’m majoring in psychology, and this is a serious issue. Do your best to seek help in your area. I wish you much luck!

[20 points] IDENTIFY THE PROBLEM: According to you, what is the problem described in this article. Clearly in one paragraph [50 words minimum] state the problem as you understand it.

The downfall of MySpace, over the Company’s course of operations over the many years, has been a number of issues that reflects the final image of what the company has become today. MySpace helped pop music artists build their music careers on the website and was the hub for everything music related. They had plans of having the most licenses in the world of music, and to have contracts with artists and record companies. They wanted to become the Mecca of music. Problems arisen over the last 7 years and MySpace was known for having issues with Customer Experience as well as Internal Management. On the customer experience level, the site has weaknesses in it’s spam filtration; a high volume of spam had negative impact to MySpace’s website quality directly correlated. Mail inboxes, engulfed with friend invites from spammers, illegitimate friends, and adult-rated sites, causing a nuisance to users resulting in MySpace’s drop in members and loss of culture in the recent years. MySpace held a reputation on the news for various child predator cases. The Company had switched to crisis management mode and the administrators have taken the initiative to collaborate with the law to put these people to justice; nevertheless, Myspace’s reputation was the concern of many parents. MySpace has been perceived publicly as a social networking site geared toward a teenage audience, and issues arising such as stalking. It lost it’s musicians and artists therefore losing the touch of what the site was meant to be. From the management side, it lacked innovation and developer interaction. It spent too much time focusing on the issues stated in the article and too little time designing the architecture of the website to be one that easy to interact with, one that developers could jump in and innovate the way other social media websites have done. Buyouts from News Corp and Fox Media Interactive have caused the company to go through administrative management conflicts with way the website was initially intended to be run by its cofounders, causing them to even resign their positions. Google’s Bailout has decreased the quality of the website drastically as the company suffered to meet the daily click requirements and advertisement revenue. The company did not run on pre planned investments as other social sites have done so. The Company faces challenges, they had to find ways to monetize the website, so they didn’t have the freedom to design their products and not worry about advertisement goals, which had to be met every quarter. To top it all off, the company, because of the way it was run, has suffered from cycling through new CEO’s and executives causing instability throughout the company. Generally, MySpace is a Company that envisioned too much and wanted it too fast.

I would say that the following problem is that MySpace dominates the society and people… A lot of people who use that site have freedom to put up any kind of contents [e.g. ad] while the administrative management is upset about it and try to stop that…

How do you remove a codec virus?

Every time I try to open the My Pictures folder or try to upload photos to any social media site (Like, Facebook) I get a pop up from Windows Compatibility Assistant that reads
"This program requires a missing Windows codec. Check for a solution on the Microsoft website. If a solution is available, there will be steps you can follow to fix the problem. Program: plugin container for Firefox"

When I click on the button that says "Download required components" it takes me to totalcodec.com which seems like a spam site.

What can I do? I have tried several anti-spyware and malware programs.

FireFox has changed alot of things in the newest 6 version….and I don’t like it….Java programs no longer are compatible….try using IE or another browser………….

PS: Windows codec’s are for hearing and being able to watch downloaded video’s on the Windows media player…check and see if your media player is working…if not ..you might have to download a replacement codec………….

What is the best social media to use for a kids camp?

What would you suggest to be used for a kids camp. It needs to be easy to moderate, easy for people to join but at the same time admin should be able authorize actual camp members. Also there should be a way to censor cursing and spam. For example we’ve thought of a facebook page, a forum, or maybe a worpress. Something that is not complicating for members to use. Not sure what would be best. Please answer with your suggestions and idea. Thanks!

WikiSpaces is a site to check…not sure if it self censors, but I know I used it in a class I had in college. Hope this helps.

Search Engine results question…..?

Alright bear with me on this one….

I do a keyword search in Goog and Y! and I get back the desired results. When I do the same search on my m-in-law’s computer, I get different results back.

I realize that each of the search engines have different index repositories, but we are connected to the same network right now.

What’s even weirder, the first for results that are returned seem to be spam links. Could it be a virus or trojan horse that is formatting the search results, pointing her to links that the spammers want her to click on.

When I advance to additional pages of search results, I get the same 4 or 5 links at the top of the search results page, followed by additional results that seem to be legitimate.

Any ideas on how to cure this problem? Thanks!!

Definately a browser hi-jack. You can sometimes remove these programs in Control Panel>Add Remove Programs. AdAware is pretty good at getting rid of simple browser hijack spyware. Otherwise you may have to buy someting better like as above, Spyware Doctor.

How do I get a specific web page removed from a search engine?

A competing company hired a newspaper to write a story about my company and SPIN the story into something bad. If you search my company name, in any search engine, the story appears. I’ve contacted the newspaper and they won’t pull the page down from their website. I’ve also tried to remove the page in Google using the removal tool, but they say it’s not spam and won’t pull the page down. AND, my lawyer contacted Google and they still won’t pull the page down.

I don’t want the whole website removed from a search result, just the one page. How do I do this? And please don’t tell me I need a new lawyer.

In all honesty, getting it removed may be a losing battle. Your better suggestion would be to get content to suppress that page and bury it in the search engine results.

This can be done in several ways. First, put out a press release about your company. Find something new that will justify the release and submit it to websites such as freepressrelease.com where you can submit a press release on your company. You can do the same thing through craigslist, ebay, and many other sites that do live indexing to gain immediate top ranking. Further, you can open a blog that is heavy with your company name throughout. Wordpress has a great ranking and should allow you to bury the newspapers article even further.

Always remember, the more content you can place with your company name on relevant sites, the more you will knock older content down the list. You can find more information on getting search engine ranking and use that to your advantage at SIA’s website www.siaservices.net and go to their articles section, just think about using your company name as keywords and meta tags.
